Snickerdoodles

1 cup soft shortening
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 cup flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt

Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs. Blend in dry ingredients. Stir in shortening mixture. Form into small walnut sized balls. Roll in a mixture of 2 T. sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon. Bake 9-10 minutes at 400 degrees.

**This is my sister Janets recipe. They always seem so dry, it takes a bit of elbow grease to get them into little balls, but they taste perfect!
